I support a strong Made In America economy. I support the American Makerspace Movement -- A makerspace in each town, like libraries.

Imagine checking out tools like you check out books at the library. Some things that can't be checked out would be on premises only for safety and practicality, like how we had shop class in schools... It would allow the general public to access basic means of production, and spur entrepreneurship.

I support a strong American Education system.

I would want to make sure we provide freedom of information, the press, the internet etc, all so that we can build a strong informational infrastructure, and perhaps even EMP resistant, along with working to increase the availability of research and sba/sbir contracts for stem and women and minority owned businesses to support this. I would support increased funding for all schools, with priority to under-served school districts in the south shore, as well as an implementation program to ensure we use the insights gleaned from the latest research that we already fund.

In my district 18.5% of the population is at or below poverty. That's more than 1 of every 6 people, and unacceptable.

In 2008 Nassau county was mentioned in Forbes as one of the affluent areas of Long Island. At one point I remember, as a high school student back in 05 and 06 from New Hyde Park, working as a cashier at Staples (shoutout store 646) in Manhasset, overhearing people saying Nassau County was the 3rd richest county in America. I worked for 7.25 an hour. I'd set up your printer and cables, show you how to hook it up to your computer and everything. I remember bringing home about 250 a week after taxes. The wages stayed the same and in 2009 the fair market rent was 1581 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment. You need at least 2 parents to work together to barely afford rent and food. I wonder how a single parent could survive. In 2019 the fair market rent in the nassau suffolk area is $1907 per month but the minimum wage is only 11.10.

Capitalism treats Labor as a commodity, therefore we see the rush to the bottom, in which products, or in this case, people, cut to the lowest sale price possible. Government is supposed to regulate and establish a floor that rises to match the inflation of the cost of goods. Otherwise we are devaluing the labor of the American people as well as the USD itself. I don't short the USD I support our economy.

Thus, considering both the poverty level, and inequities between working a job 40 hours a week anywhere at whatever the minimum wage is because of capitalism's inevitable nature, (new businesses typically can't pay high wages they need to undercut competition to gain new sales) and that a human cannot afford to exist in this county or in a nearby county, I propose the following:

A Rent Control to the effect of, or a tax break for landlords that is not valid, unless: The monthly rent = 33% of the local monthly full time minimum wage.
This is based on the 40x rule, where the renter must have an annual income greater than or equal to 40 times the monthly rent.

Reinstating SEC regulations like Glass Steagall.

The Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, which was partially repealed, prevented commercial banks from making risky investments with customer deposits. The Glass-Steagall Act was a piece of financial legislation that dates to the Great Depression. It was part of a broader set of regulations, known as the Banking Act of 1933, that moved to restore confidence in the banking system after thousands of bank failures in the first years of the Depression. The provisions prohibited banks from investing in risky securities, though they could invest in government bonds. The legislation was designed to lower the risk of failure in commercial banks and help safeguard customer accounts. The Banking Act of 1933 also created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to provide deposit insurance for banks and help prevent another Depression. Glass-Steagall helped reduce the risk to the government for providing this insurance.

Preserving Net Neutrality.

Internet service providers (such as Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) should treat all data the same as it travels across the internet. This means that your internet speed and the availability of websites should be the same no matter what the content is, or who owns it.

Closing the Camps & Ending the Muslim Ban

Fascism is unacceptable. It has no place in our government nor policy.

Medicare for All.

I am in favor of the Medicare For All program, as proposed by Bernie Sanders. Useful links:

Upholding Womens' soverignty over their bodies, especially in healthcare and reproductive rights.

I would vote in favor of upholding Roe V Wade.

Women reserve the right to choose. Just like everyone has a right to bodily integrity. It should be the decision of each individual whether she wants to use birth control or have an abortion, not a decision made for her by her doctor, family, or where she lives. Access to safe and affordable abortion services should also be provided to all Americans. Requirements placed by individual states on access should be subject to oversight by a board of doctors. (Not some 'rando' legislators). Nobody wants to have an abortion, but in promoting life, it's important to protect the mother. She may not choose to proceed with a pregnancy, but choose to bear others in the future. It's her choice. Not mine. Nor yours. Nor Anyone Else's.

The two most effective ways to decrease the number of abortions are to provide every woman with access to contraceptives and to provide financial, emotional, and structural support to individuals who are financially struggling and have become pregnant.

Federal Funding for First Responders.

In my hometown and in many other municipalities, firepeople are not paid. They are volunteers. These brave men and women save lives with none of the controversy of police nor any of the pay of EMTs. I would support legislation to federally fund fire departments nationwide. Furthermore I'd increase funding for EMTs to get paid better and lower the cost of ambulances to citizens. Finally -- in areas where there is high traffic and high response time, I would increase funding such that we can get smart traffic control systems, and in crowded cities, medevac air transport.

Roads, Pipes, Our Electrical Grid, & Critical Basic Infrastructure

I just got a flat tire from a pothole in the road. That costs me money out of pocket because agencies can't take care of the roads or even get contractors to work on time. Flint has no clean water. In Long Island the wells have carcinogens in the water. We need our public infrastructure to work. Finally we would need our infrastructure to be tamper and EMP proof. Bad actors can easily cause brown outs and with the high level of digital dependence in America we need to ensure a reliable system in every aspect.

Legalization of MMJ, with full retroactive expungement of records.

Plants should not be illegal. I lived in Colorado when they first legalized in 2015, saw how one obtains a medical marijuana card with the Colorado Dept of Health, and observed how it positively affected the economy and community, first hand. Regulating marijuana will lower street crime, take business away from bad actors, gangs/drug cartels, and make marijuana use safer through required testing, labeling, and child-proof packaging. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, and adults should have a right to use it if they wish.

Getting the money out of politics.

The other day I got a voicemail from a supporter, Roger Meadows, proposing that I fight for a Constitutional Amendment or aligning with setting legal precedent that money is not a form of speech, and that corporations are not people -- I would propose we recognize them as they are: conglomerates or groups of people acting within an organization.

Renewable Energy & Foreign Policy

We need multi-disciplinary solutions to multivariate problems. We constantly engage in wars to protect, or otherwise secure oil fields, pipelines, minerals, or other raw resources, or protect commercial interests that siphon resources from developing nations in order to develop our economy. By achieving Energy Independence, we would no longer be beholden to OPEC or wars over pipelines, oil fields, etc. We shouldn't be playing "Starcraft" with Planet Earth.

Renewable Energy means we as a nation would no longer need to engage in wars over oil.

The Green New Deal

I got inspired to run after coding for Bernie's connect.berniesanders.com app in 2016, and seeing fellow college underclassmen AOC run in Queens. After several friends and colleagues recommended me somewhat jokingly but also seriously after political discussions, I had one of those "well if you know better then you should go out there and do better" moments. NY-04 is essentially Nassau County's central and south shore, and our shores will be hit by climate change first, yet we don't have anyone from NY-04 cosponsoring the Green New Deal or other legislation to actually address the problem. (Even Suozzi co-sponsored it) I would like to change that.
I align with anything that promotes life and my people, and I understand that being a Congressional Representative is first and foremost about representing the people. so here I am.

Alot of candidates will stand on a soap box and tell you what to think or how to live.

I'm here to listen.
